Kassouf’s healthcare tax and advisory experts recently connected with clients and colleagues at the Healthcare Leaders Association of Alabama’s Winter Conference March 5-7 in Birmingham, Alabama. The conference brings together healthcare practice managers, billing managers, and other healthcare executives for an engaging meeting focused on healthcare management, revenue cycle management, and healthcare regulatory compliance.

Director Margaret Cook, MBA, CMPE and Manager Kami West, CPA presented “A New Practice Manager’s Guide to Excellence.” Areas of discussion included workforce management, regulatory compliance, revenue cycle management, and financial reconciliation. Targeting both new practice managers and established practice managers who could benefit from a refresher, their program helped attendees overcome daily hurdles.

Director Zack Bennett, CPA, PFS discussed the numerous approaches to designing compensation models during “Physician and Provider Compensation 101.” This program explored the common physician compensation models, the regulations that drive their continued development, and where compensation is heading in the future. Attendees learned about key components of the physician employment contract, as well as the pitfalls associated with failing to ensure language fully matches intent.

Director Wes Brown, CPA, CVA/ABV continued the physician compensation conversation with “Physician and Provider Compensation 201.” He explored strategies for evaluating the performance and effectiveness of existing agreements, outlining objectives and timelines for revisions, and reviewing current trends in compensation agreements. Attendees learned about key steps for monitoring compensation calculations and reconciliation, components to include in agreements to drive performance towards collective objectives, and methods to communicate these changes with providers.

This year’s theme “Unmask the Potential in Your Practice” incorporated the spirit of Mardi Gras. We enjoyed letting the good times roll with branded Mardi Gras beads and Zapp’s potato chips.
