Kassouf recently sponsored the 2019 Alabama Healthcare Fraud Summit, held at The Club, Inc. Other presenting sponsors of this inaugural event were Birmingham InfraGard Members Alliance, Southern Medical Association, and Birmingham Medical Group Management Association.
The summit featured educational presentations by experts from the FBI, the US Attorney’s Office, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and other in the Birmingham legal community. Over 160 attendees, including physicians, practice managers, compliance officers, and other healthcare professionals participated in sessions on topics from CMS and insurance fraud to opioid fraud and abuse.
Kassouf & Co. Information Services Manager, Russ Dorsey, who is a member of InfraGard, played a significant role in the planning and implementation of the event. “We spent considerable time on the content, working with the speakers as a group to coordinate content across all the sessions,” said Dorsey. “We also worked to insure this summit followed the InfraGard mission – to protect our Nation’s critical infrastructure, in this case our Healthcare systems, through a public-private sector partnership based on information-sharing and education. It was important the content had real value and that the event was accessible to a large audience. Our team was able to get a full day’s content approved for continuing education credits for physicians, lawyers, accountants, and Alabama law enforcement.”
